Sesto is a popular destination for summer and winter vacations, known for its warm hospitality as well as the beauty of the Sesto Dolomites.
Especially in the summer months, numerous hiking trails invite you into the untouched nature. One of the highlights here is certainly a walk into the Fiscalina Valley, where surrounded by the peaks of the famous Sesto Sundial you can marvel at the natural beauty of this region.
Also in winter Sesto has a lot to offer and invites skiers, cross-country skiers, tobogganers and winter hikers alike to enjoy the snow-covered landscape.
The famous Three Peaks in South Tyrol are the landmark of the Dolomites and an absolute highlight if you want to explore the 3 Peaks region. The 3 Peaks are located in the corresponding nature park and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2009 as part of the Dolomites.
In a remarkable way it shines and remains unimpressed by the transience of time, so it attracts all eyes. This unique Sesto mountain sundial is one of the most remarkable skylines that nature has created.
The Dolomite peaks Neuner, Zehner (Sextner Rotwand), Elfer, Zwölfer and Einser towering high above Sesto give the imposing stone clockwork its unmistakable appearance. On clear days, the time can be read from the position of the sun above the peaks.
Cycling in Sesto is a nice way to explore the surroundings. You can ride your city bike, trekking bike or e-bike comfortably from Sesto to the Fischleintal valley or to San Candido and then ride along the Drau cycle path to Lienz in East Tyrol. In a westerly direction, the Pustertaler Radweg leads to Mühlbach. Along the route there are many interesting places and things to see. If you don’t want to cycle home, you can take the train to San Candido.
Sesto and the farm of the Mair family with the 5 chalets were a wonderful experience. Great equipped, cozy houses with fantastic views of the valley and the Sesto mountains. Hospitality is written large here - warm welcome and perfect service. We will come again.
